Less Stuff, More Dogs

There is a question I keep coming back to: does the world really need more things – even if they come with Great Danes on them? We live in a time of overconsumption, where it feels as if resources were endless, and yet we know they are not. We use plastics and materials as if there were no tomorrow, pile up waste, and look away from the real cost a little too easily.

I design things you can buy – sometimes I even hope you will. But more than that, I hope you think carefully before you buy anything at all. Ask yourself: do I truly need this, or do I just want it for a moment? Would my dog notice the difference? Your Great Dane does not care how many mugs, totes or prints you own. Your dog cares that you are there, that you show up, that you share time, touch, play and quiet moments together.

I trust my customers to be thoughtful people. You have the freedom to decide what you bring into your home, what you spend your money on, and what you gently leave on the shelf. Use that freedom well. Buy less, but better. Repair what you can. Make things yourself when it makes sense. And if you feel you do not need one more printed thing – that is perfectly fine. Go outside with your dog instead, or sit on the floor and watch them sleep. That is wealth, too.

If you cannot visit your friends in person, call them. Not a voice note, not just pictures – a real call, where you listen and laugh together. If they are too far away, write. A simple letter, three honest lines on a piece of paper, can mean more than any expensive gift. If you happen to use one of my Great Dane cards for that, I am happy. But you do not need my card to send love. A sheet of paper, your handwriting, a paw-print of life next to your dog on the sofa – that is enough, if you truly mean it.

In short: spend more of your time and care on your dog and your people, and less on things. And if you ever decide to bring one of my Doggenhaus pieces into your home, I hope it is because it really belongs there – with you and your Great Dane, in a life that is already full of what matters most.
